Classes of Nematoda

There are two (2) classes of Phylum Nematoda, these are: Enoplea and Chromadorea.

The Enoplea are distinguished from the Chromadorea by a number of characteristics. Some of these characteristics are depicted in the table below:

Esophagus
cylindrical or "bottle-shaped"
bulbous
Amphids Shape
pocket-like
slits, pores, coils, or spirals
Body Texture
characterized by a smooth appearance or fine lines on the surface of some of the species
may have rings, projections, or setae
Excretory System
is simple, sometimes made up of a single cell
have more complex, tubular systems, sometimes with glands.
